Fragment ion intensity prediction improves ID rates on TIMSTOFs!

Wow. Hopefully that looks better when I publish the post than it does in this little bubble on my screen.

Have you ever wondered if there might be some downside that basically every spectral library on earth was acquired using DDA on an Orbitrap? I sure have,  but was like, meh - not like I can do anything about it -- but check this out!

This is a deep dive into what the two leading instruments in (LCMS) proteomics (gotta throw that in as we lose ground to unproven, unspecific and only crudely quantitative technologies) look like at a fragment level and what happens if you really optimize things specifically for the TOFs.

As people start to really use TIMSTOFs for non-tryptic peptides like HLAs/MHCs that are crucially important for our dreams for precision medicine this is a very welcome preprint to see out there if only to know that people are really truly thinking about it!
