NIST protein standards

This is likely old news that I either missed or forgot about. But did you know that NIST sells thoroughly characterized and QC'ed protein standards?

This one is cool. It is a standardized yeast protein extract that you can use to optimize your digestion parameters. They make these in HUGE quantities so that batch-to-batch variation is something you don't have to worry about.

In 2016, they will be releasing a monoclonal antibody standard that they've been working on. This is something a whole lot of people desperately need due to the batch-to-batch variability issues with commercial suppliers. This slide deck gives you a hint to the level they are characterizing this thing! Oh, and 17 labs also threw in last year to help make sure that this will likely be the most fully elucidated antibody in the world!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed it'll be out before that thing in San Antonio!
